Pedagang Blok II Proyek Pasar Senen Mengeluh

Senen Market Blok II Vendors’ Income Decreasing

Since Blok III vendors moved selling on roadsides two days ago, my income becomes decreasing. Usually, I could reap Rp 1.5 million. Now, I can only get Rp 400 thousand top

Fire that burned Pasar Senen Blok III, Central Jakarta, also gives impacts to the vendors selling in Blok II. Due to many Blok III vendors are selling their merchandises in front of first floor Blok II gate, shoppers become reluctant to get into the market. As a result, the income of Blok II vendors is decreasing.

Pasar Senen Vendors Selling on Roadsides

Lisna (42), a second-shirt trader on first floor of Blok II, admitted that since the fire incident, her income decreases drastically. “Since Blok III vendors moved selling on roadsides two days ago, my income becomes decreasing. Usually, I could reap Rp 1.5 million. Now, I can only get Rp 400 thousand top. This is because the merchandises sold by Blok II and Blok III vendors are similar,” she uttered, Monday (4/28).

According to Lisna, PD Pasar Jaya should have relocated Blok III vendors to Blok V where there are still many empty kiosks. “If they were placed here, it is the same as killing our business. Moreover, we have to pay rent for Rp 6 million per month,” she lamented.

Besides, Lisna added, not all vendors selling on roadsides in front of Blok II gate are fire victims. This is because there are also new traders who ‘stole’ chances to join selling with real Blok III vendors.

Lisna’s statement is confirmed by Sugito (41), a Blok III vendor selling bags. “Indeed, there are many new faces joined selling here,” he told.

Unfortunately, when beritajakarta.com tried to ask confirmation from Pasar Senen Blok II management, all officials were not in place. “All leaders are not in place,” stated Susanto, security officer in management office on fifth floor of Pasar Senen.
